Quitting is never easy. I hope these images may strengthen your resolve. The best all-around page I've seen on an introduction to issues of smoker's lungs is the article "Smoking's Impact on the Lungs". It is one of 95 free articles on Joel Spitzer's excellent Why Quit site, which also includes many free informative videos you can watch on your computer.
Smokehelp.org has
a useful FAQ
on quitting and other information, as well as this
picture of emphysema and cancerous lungs.
These pictures are from a page previously on Vanderbilt University's GirlForce site.
The left is a healthy lung, compared with the smokers' lungs diseased with
emphysema, lung cancer, and chronic bronchitis.
Presmark has a series of unpleasant smoker lung pictures.
They're trying to sell some books, but they do offer these
images of lung cross sections, along with quite a bit of
other useful free information.
These pictures were from a now-defunct site showing healthy lungs
compared to a smoker's lungs. The third shot is of a tumor poking
out the entrance to a lung.
While it doesn't specifically cover lung issues, this is a nicely designed chart of what happens if you quit smoking right now. |
